I was not a regular at Anil’s Cafe
when I was in school.
but I had to visit
when I was there last month.
So, I walked up towards chaar dukan
and only realised this time around
that the reason this place
is called chaar dukan
is because there are only four dukans
and anil’s is the last one there 🙂
all those weekend outings
during boarding school life
never brought me here.
because it was off bounds
(though only 100 yards further)
and i was that goody two shoes
who broke no rules 😉
but i finally made it.
this is the famed ruskin bond hangout.
on certain saturdays when he is in mussoorie
he actually comes here and chills with his fans
he came to our school once
I vaguely remember
but i realised I would not read his books twice
once is good enough…
but this place is a must visit
if you want ruskin bond collection
all his books are housed neatly
i however collected
a ruskin bond selection instead.
People have already visited, frequented and critiqued this cafe in g-town and I thought I should do my share of impressions as well.
I did not visit the first week nor the first month since its opening, but eventually made way to this place on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
It is a charming space with books and good food I suppose.
Although there are some who don’t seem to like the food there.
But that’s Gangtok -a new joint opens up, people flock to that place and nobody likes the food.
As for me, I eat what I get. Am not too fussy about food and I think this place has the best beef burger in town in recent days…
(although the last time I was there, they said no beef burgers today)
Hopefully they are not taking the present government’s beef ban too seriously.
And one thing I liked
is how your check comes in
i don’t think i’ve posted anything
on mawphlang sacred grove
despite my many visits
to this picturesque place.
this visit was spontaneous
but with good people
and lasting memories…
