East of the Sun

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though I oft have passed them by,
A day shall come at last when I
Will take the secret paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.

This is an unfashionable word in the world I live here.
It is a point of pride, a badge, women especially, like to flaunt, this lack of expectations.
If you expect the slightest thing from anyone you are made to feel as if you are a parasite, a person so demanding it is impossible to have a relationship with you.
So I learnt to throw most of my expectations out of the windows.
I am warning you though, I have a lot of expectations of you,
I don’t care if you let me down and break my heart but only with these expectations,
darling, can I love you.
